I have no axe to grind, I just remember the great music! I can’t understand why the negative comments guys? What’s stopping the other guys from contributing here, surely that’s what it’s about! A forum like this is a discussion point for the others to chip in and let us enjoy the memories, not to assassinate the character of someone who has the guts to make a contribution in the first place. If you’re gonna bitch about someone, bitch about the people who sit back on the asses and don’t contribute anything at all. In my experience in this life, it’s only those people out there who try and do something that become targets (no doubt I will now). Just my observation that some people are having a go at Keith for trying to do something in the first place. There are those that do and those that don’t. Have a pop at those that don’t or can’t be bothered, not those who are prepared to contribute in the first place. Unless of course I’ve completely missed the point here and there are some personal agendas going on that I don’t know about. If the missing people want to put the record (excuse the pun) straight then I’d love to see hear their views and memories (honestly).
It would appear that the “It was inevitable I would overlook people” comment has not arisen through lack of reference or loss of memory, but because the decision was consciously taken to do so by the writer. The article and additional notes to date mentions the name ‘Keith Jones’ some nine times in total yet ignores some of its key past members names completely so it genuinly seems that, far from being “hostile” as the writer states, the readers ‘JN’, ‘fairport’ and ‘micky’ have some justification in questioning the accuracy of this autobiography. If the comment “I can understand that some people might be hurt” is in any way sincere then why use text that has allowed that situation to be created in the first place if not intentional? I for one will no longer be taking an active interest in this article despite being a genuine fan of Scotch Mist, Bright Eyes and Back Street Slide.
I’ve just found this website – ah those were the days, the Barrel Organ on a Friday night with Bright Eyes. What a great band they were. In fact almost every night at this venue was great. I still have the Brum Beat live album which opens with the band. Other great tracks off that album were Speed Limit, with there track CJ, what a drum sound, just brilliant.
I am sorry if I have upset anybody in compiling this biography, it’s a long time ago, and I have tried to write accurate information from all the various press cuttings, tickets & posters I have. It was inevitable I would overlook people. I would be happy to include anyone who could genuinely remind me of there contribution to the band. I can understand that some people might be hurt, but I don’t think it’s necessary to be so hostile. I would love to hear from Terry (who will be included soon) if you can somehow contact me through the archive and leave a message.

I remember Bright Eyes from the Barrel organ in Digbeth, also saw them at Birmingham University supporting Irish band Horslips, they were great and there singer was awesome!
A shame that so many have been forgotten by so few! At least have the courtesy to acknowledge the original Bright Eyes guitarist, one Rod Hudson, who played such a major part in the band from June 1975 through to July 1977. A great guitarist and friend…. the ‘74 Tele Custom lives on!
